The Constitution of the Order of the Free Knights: Version 2.0 We the founders of the Free Knights of Final Fantasy XI, in order to avoid the trappings of tyranny and anarchy, do hereby ordain and establish this constitution for the membership of our order. Article I: Authority and Power 1. The membership of the Free Knights and the founders of the order shall have equal authority, unless temporary leadership is otherwise appointed by a democratic vote. 2. The Free Knights are the premier anti-clan, and shall not allow any leader to gain unlimited authority over the order, or to otherwise abolish this constitution. The founders reserve the right to dispose of moles and renegades. 3. Any disputes within the order that cannot be resolved by this constitution shall be settled by a democratic vote. In the event a vote splits 50/50, a compromise shall be negotiated. 4. The founders of the Free Knights shall reserve all powers necessary to enforce this constitution and maintain unity within the order. In the event both of the founders have taken leave, the membership may appoint a responsible leader to discharge these duties. Any such appointment shall surrender their power when one or both of the founders return. Article II: Terms of Membership 1. Those who apply to join the Free Knights, must be approved by a majority of the total membership and both of the founders. Applicants are guaranteed equal opportunity to join regardless of age, race, or sex. The founders, however, shall reserve the right to limit the growth of the order --and if in agreement, may terminate any membership for any reason. 2. Once approved for membership, the Free Knights shall allow their own to practice great personal freedom. Members shall be encouraged to develop their characters as they see fit, follow their own agendas, train independently, and even socialize with other Final Fantasy players. The order shall not compel any of its members to accept any agenda or to take any actions other than those mandated by this constitution. 3. The Free Knights shall not seek tribute for membership. Any spoils, treasure, or reward collected shall be equally distributed amongst the members of the party, with preference based on need and job class. 4. Members of the Free Knights may not join clans or guilds, as doing so creates a dangerous conflict of interest. Violators shall have their membership immediately terminated. 5. Those that choose to leave the Free Knights may do so at any time for any reason, and without penalty. Members that leave on peaceful terms shall always be welcome to reapply. Article III: Vision Views and Values 1. The vision of the founders of the Free Knights is to provide tactical support and communion for the membership, while still preserving the rights and freedom of each individual member. 2. The Free Knights shall oppose any force, player, party, or clan that seeks to draw the world into anarchy and chaos. The order itself shall stand for justice. 3. Members of the Free Knights shall be expected to treat their fellows and their order with loyalty and respect. Final Fantasy has always been about friendship and teamwork. Infighting shall be strictly forbidden, and treachery shall be ruthlessly punished. Article IV: The Code of Engagement 1. The Free Knights shall support and defend each other in battle. Attacks and special abilities must be properly coordinated to ensure survival and victory. 2. Members of the order shall be free to pursue their own agendas --including attacks on outside players, parties, or clans. However, no member nor party may represent the Free Knights during such engagements without a formal declaration of war. 3. A declaration of war shall require approval from a two-thirds majority of the total membership and both of the founders. War shall not be declared unless diplomacy has failed or the enemy clearly supports anarchy. The membership may not decline battle with the enemy during a state of war. 4. Victory shall not be declared until the enemy has suffered complete pillage, plunder, and humiliation. An offer to surrender shall not be accepted from the enemy without approval by a majority of the total membership. Conditional surrender shall not be accepted. 5. The Free Knights shall never surrender. Article V: Amending the Constitution 1. Any clarification, expansion, or amendment to this constitution must be approved by a majority of the total membership and both of the founders. As democratic votes resolve key disputes, the founders reserve the right to add precedent amendments without any additional democratic process. *signature* Cecil Kain *signature* Hyuga Ricdeau Founders of the Order of the Free Knights ---------------- The above signatures were made in the Alexandria Plaza on Wednesday February 27, 2001.
